Only two years old, Action Plus collapsed and died after racing in Hobart in Tasmania on 26 August 2021 – International Dog Day. By removing or editing race videos that show the suffering of greyhounds, Greyhound Racing NSW admits that the realities of dog racing are unacceptable to the general public. 100th greyhound killed on Australian tracks

The 100th greyhound to lose its life on Australia’s racetracks in 2021 was three-year old Overgrip, yet another dog killed with a broken leg. Zed Bale was the first greyhound loss this year, killed with a broken humerus on 1 January in Geelong VIC. Overgrip was killed on 12 August in Albion Park QLD with a broken tibia. NSW greyhound racing deaths surge 44% – the Gold Standard?

The first half of 2021 was one of the deadliest for greyhounds in NSW.   36 greyhounds died on the tracks – a 44% increase over the 25 that died in the same period in 2020 (1 January – 30 June).
