Many of the leg injuries would have been treatable away from a callous industry… but note that comminuted (shattered) fractures are more commonly seen after car accidents or shotgun blasts.
Remember, Australia is in a Covid-19 pandemic crisis, but animal racing continues, putting greyhounds and humans at risk.
At one NSW regional town, a race meeting was held at the same location as a Covid-19 testing and vaccination hub. A local doctor said that from “a health perspective it is an absolute disaster.”
He added that, “There is no justification for this, except money….This shows the government is catering for certain interest groups instead of looking after the community as a whole.”
And these interest groups have taken at least 15 greyhound lives in August alone.
Images show the last moments of these beautiful dogs.
