Two-year-old Inspection was the second greyhound in 10 days to die racing on the Wagga track.
On 28 August 2026, he collided with another dog post-race and fell, suffering “a compound fractured near-side radius and ulna, fractured off-side humerus.”
On 18 August, Tiggerlong Socks, also two years old, similarly fell and suffered two broken front legs: “compound fractures to both fore legs.”
The head-on view of the race video replay for Inspection’s race, showing the finish line, has been cut by GRNSW, while the fall of Tiggerlong Socks was also cut from the race video.
The Wagga track is slated for closure under the Greyhound Racing NSW “optimisation” plan. It has never met the state’s minimum track standards
In the current GRNSW upgrade program, the track’s progress is marked as “not applicable”.
A CPG spokesperson said:
“Two young greyhounds have died from compound fractures in 10 days. The agony of having bones protrude through the skin is unimaginable.
The closure of the Wagga track must be brought forward. There’s no need for dogs to race and die on this track. Across Australia and New Zealand, greyhound tracks are being returned to their local communities, and the same must occur at Wagga.
The local conservative MPs Joe McGirr, Michael McCormack, and Wes Fang, must stop supporting a dog-killing industry and show support for these gentle and loyal dogs. The Wagga track must be allowed to fade into history.
Greyhound Racing NSW recently sponsored the 2026 Bush Summit. Attendees were fed the usual misleading propaganda from GRNSW.
The victims like Tiggerlong Socks and Inspection, and their agony, are concealed by GRNSW. This government-funded abuse of dogs cannot continue.”
