Capo Dei Capi and Winckie Bale were the 5th and 6th dogs to be killed on lethal Victorian tracks in 2026. They were both killed on 30 March after suffering agonising leg fractures. Another 11 dogs have been killed away from the track after suffering catastrophic injuries.
Victoria’s greyhound tracks are the deadliest in the country. In 2025 almost 100 dogs died racing in Victoria and there were more than 3,000 injuries.
This carnage cannot continue.
Two-year-old Capo Dei Capi ran her third ever race on 30 March at Shepparton and won - then her front leg was broken in a catching pen 'incident' and she was killed.
Race footage shows Capo Dei Capi standing at the starting boxes with a handler then racing and crossing the finish line. Post-race, there seems to be the sound of a dog crying out in pain behind the race commentary.
Capo Dei Capi had a promising career, having placed second in her first ever race on 1st March and winning her next two races including her last race today. She earned a tidy $1950 for her connections today and died for it.

Winckie Bale didn't make it to her 4th birthday, she was killed at Sandown after falling and suffering a fractured leg.
Footage shows Winckie Bale, a dark brindle greyhound, being paraded before the race then falling and twisting in agony with a fractured leg. You can also see her being removed from the track while the race continues.
Again, what are these people thinking or feeling as they witness the suffering of dogs they claim to love?
