The carnage on Australian racetracks continued in the first half of 2022, with 78 greyhound deaths and more than 5000 injuries recorded in the first six months of 2022, according to analysis of stewards’ reports.

Stewards’ reports indicate that 15 greyhounds died while racing in June 2022, making it a fatal month for greyhounds. Seven greyhounds were murdered on NSW racetracks. Three were killed on South Australian racetracks, two apiece in Victoria and Western Australia, and one in Tasmania.
