Silvertree Henny dies day after injury on way to race meeting

Greyhound Silvertree Henny was withdrawn from the Temora race meeting on 1 April 2026 by on-track vet Dr Lewis Walkom.

The young dog – only just two years old – had “sustained an injury on the way to the meeting.”

The next day Silvertree Henny was recorded as “deceased” in Fasttrack.

She was made to start racing in March, running three races before  trainer Garry Anesbury acquired her. and she ran once more on 27 March at Wagga.

Her “injury” will not be recorded in racing injury data because scratching injuries are ignored by regulator GWIC.

GWIC has revealed that in FY23-24    623 greyhounds were scratched due to injury, but these were not recorded in injury data.

CPG will ask GWIC the following questions:

  • how was the injury sustained
  • what was the type of injury
  • how and where was the injury treated
  • what was the cause of death

However, GWIC will probably refuse to answer due to their current retreat on transparency.
