Under the sign saying “We love our dogs”, ten greyhounds suffered injuries at one Dubbo race meeting held on 3 July 2021.
Injuries ranged from cramping to a broken ankle.
It’s the third-highest race meeting total in NSW this year, after Richmond (13 injuries) and The Gardens-Newcastle, Dapto, and Casino, all with 11 injuries.
The unfortunate dogs were:
SASSY PEPPER fractured hock
AUTHORITY fore toe dislocations
BEER TALKING pin muscle
STRINGER CASEY cramping
MIDDLE MAN fore paw abrasion, pin muscle and both hip supports
FLYIN’ CRAZY pin muscle and hip support
PLATINUM DESIRE chest, wrist and both pin muscles
SPRINKLE FUSION pin muscle and both groins
TOTAL LOCKOUT pin muscle and both groins
LAD FROM BUNNAN Torn stopper pad
In addition, six dogs were scratched prior to racing with injuries.
The Dubbo Greyhound Racing Club says it is one of the “safest greyhound facilities in Western NSW”, and the track is “a place of leisure and contentment.”
GAP Dubbo also says you can find your “new best mate” there.
Spare a thought for the greyhounds nursing their injuries as they bask in the “love” of the racing industry.
