The internal documents revealing that senior greyhound racing administrators were actively strategizing to downplay live baiting just days before the illegal practice was exposed by the ABC Four Corners program make it clear that cleaning up the industry is impossible.
Now that that there is hard evidence that GRNSW officials knew about the systemic serious animal cruelty involving the thousands of innocent victims of live baiting, there is no excuse left to keep the industry going.
Industry officials recommended QC and High Court Justice Michael McHugh to head a bogus taskforce to deflect corruption allegations and appear to be appropriately investigating the live baiting expose.
The process of having Michael McHugh appointed by NSW premier Mike Baird to lead the NSW’s government’s Special Commission of Inquiry into GRNSW calls the validity of the inquiry into doubt.
The Baird government has no option left but to shut this industry down, regardless of what an invalid commission of inquiry recommends.
We need to ask, when is enough, enough?
