Media Release Writer

We’re looking for a volunteer Media Release Writer to join our fight for a ban on greyhound racing in Australia. Help us share the real stories behind the industry façade, and be part of a dedicated community of activists and experts.

Supported by our media team, you’ll use your experience in media and PR work to write news releases for this worthy cause. 

This role is ideal for working or retired people with a passion for animal welfare who meet the essential criteria below.

Please keep reading if you:

  • have experience in media and PR work,
  • are happy to work from your own desk at home, but willing to liaise with team members as needed
  • you are able to commit to a minimum of two to three hours per week on an ongoing basis*.

* We will prioritise applicants who can commit to at least six months due to the resources involved in onboarding new people.

  • At least five years’ experience in media and PR work
  • Great grammar, spelling and punctuation, as well as problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to write one page news releases that can be distributed to media outlets
  • A willingness to use AP style guidelines
  • Willingness to apply for a library card which will give you access to Australian media industry contacts, if you don’t already have access via a workplace.
  • Long term experience in the media and PR industry preferred
