The South Australian drone video abuse case embarrassed the state’s premier by revealing the horrors of a greyhound racing industry that he supported.
An angry South Australian premier Peter Malinauskas had clearly had enough of the industry’s falsehoods when he announced an independent inquiry into the sickening cruelty.
“We were told that this type of behaviour didn’t happen and now we find out that it does.
“I can’t rely on those assurances anymore when we see footage like this,” he said.
“I can’t rely on those assurances anymore when we see footage like this,” he said.
The Premier emphasised: “we can’t just rely on assurances that we get from industry, only then to be able to see footage like this.”
Of course, greyhound welfare advocates have long been telling state governments that the greyhound racing industry is cruel, abusive, and untrustworthy.
Without a doubt, more premiers will have to face the grim truth and stop propping up this cruel industry with taxpayer funds.
