The recent horrific deaths of young greyhounds has highlighted the utter cruelty of the racing industry. Maniac Martini was 23 months old when he collapsed and died after a race at Geelong VIC on 10 September 2021. The first half of 2021 was one of the deadliest for greyhounds in NSW. 36 greyhounds died on the tracks – a 44% increase over the 25 that died in the same period in 2020 (1 January – 30 June).
