The Wentworth Park racetrack, one of Australia’s premier tracks, has set a new low standard for greyhound abuse.
The first five race meetings in November 2024 have seen one sickening death and 28 injuries, including eight major injuries. Five of these were broken legs, with the dogs at risk of being killed away from the public eye.
Ten dogs were injured on 2 November, five on 14 November (with one death), and eight on 16 November.
Two-year old Knighted Storm fell on 14 November and suffered a fractured neck, and was killed after the race by the on-track vet. How long was she suffering for?
As of 16 November 2024, Wentworth Park is the deadliest track in NSW with five racing deaths. Two dogs died racing on the track in 2023.
The track has caused shocking deaths in 2024: Knighted Storm, Omega Texas (two shattered front legs), Oceanside (foreleg and hindleg fractures), Self Sink (spinal fracture),
Ruby’s Wish (head trauma, seizures, foreleg fracture).
