Board of Greyhound Racing NSW handed six month extension

From the Greyhound Recorder, 19 June 2025:

“The Board of Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) has been handed a six-month extension by Minister for Gaming and Racing David Harris.

The GRNSW directors: Chair Adam Casselden SC, Deputy Chair Rebekah Giles, Matthew Waring, Kevin Gordon, Louise Wakefield, Paul Gentle and Gregory Johnson.

Message from Adam Casselden SC in GRNSW Annual Report 23/24:

The Board is resolute that our organisation must be the gold standard – the best in track safety, the best in animal welfare, the best in rehoming, the best for participants, the best for our fans, and the best product for our bookmaking partners.

He also mentions “our wonderful greyhounds”.

From the Greyhound Welfare and Integrity Commission Annual Report 23/24:

1,046 greyhound deaths [Euthanasia 541 / Death notification 505]

The details of these deaths will not be released. This is the gold standard.

This is also the same Casselden who the previous year had said: “greyhound adoption and welfare soared to new heights” under then-CEO Robert Macaulay. Of course, then Mr Macaulay lost his job, the Brittan report revealed appalling abuse, and the government was forced to establish an inquiry into GRNSW.

Surprisingly, the GRNSW board members can’t be found on the GRNSW website. The Greyhound Racing Victoria board members aren’t so secretive: https://www.grv.org.au/about-grv/who-we-are/
